"Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet Thy commandments are my delights."
word for law - commandments; Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me - we see the continue turmoil in David's life; He recognizes just exactly what is going on. He is under attack. OUr physical, mental attacks are within our realm of life. But we must understand the two sources of 'trouble and anguish'; 1. we bring it on ourselves. Sin always produces trouble and anguish to the Christian heart. Sin to the sinner produces death and far worse reactions from God's hand. Oh, to watch the lives of Chrsitians fade in faith and holiness because they love the flesh and sin more than they love the Savior. 2. The second source of 'trouble and anguish' is from Satan's own hand.
The story of Job is enough for this fact. If you are able to say, 'I have no sin' at present that shoucl cause this trouble, then be assured that Satan is working heartily to destroy and discourage your faith and walk with God. Men and friends were besetting against David, yet he knew what was going on. It is never easy to endure it, but one must prevail over it. And just as there are different wounds in our bodies, so they match the wounds in 'trouble and anguish'. Some are barely scratches others are wounding to death. I believe the old saying, 'that if you think you have it bad, know that someone, somewhere else has it worse.' David was feeling the deep bind of his trouble and anguish. Sometimes it seems to our flesh, that there is no answer, no help and no rescue. Yet, our faith must rise to this challenge. We must know that 'all things work toghether for good to them that love God'. wE msut see and know that God is in control.
