Although I would still consider myself prophetic/charismatic I'm disappointed with the depth of the discussion in most charismatic circles whether they like the traditional church models or not. Could it be what God has planned is so radically different that even the prophetic church would miss it? I'm part of a growing group of Christians that is often labeled the "emerging church". Most of these people are not Charismatic let alone prophetic but they recognize the irrelevance of today's traditional church. In this group I see a much deeper reconsideration of what it means to follow Jesus Christ and what church should look like. These people are leaving traditional churches to start all manner of alternative fellowships, home churches, bar churches, cafe churches etc... The focus of this group is to create missional communities that reach out to change society one person at a time. This group isn't the be all and end all of church, but I do see a greater willingness to re-examine everything and put everything at risk for the sake of the kingdom of God. I've gone through the motions of intercessory prayer meetings and worship walks and the like. We do what we think is spiritual warfare and then return to our nice easy lives without facing the challenge of anything. There are several assumptions in the charismatic/prophetic movement that I find suspect biblically... I don't deny the need to be in communion with God but in the New Testament we see a lot more preaching of an offensive gospel than "praying against" evil in the world. Christ crucified is the power of God unto salvation. -Leighton Tebay.
