Leonard Ravenhill

Leonard Ravenhill (1907 - 1994)

A revivalist and man of God who sought God's will above all else. He was a man of prayer who practiced what he preached. He wrote the book: 'Why Revival Tarries' which has become a classic on revival. His prophetic edge and burden made him to be respected by some and disliked by others. Yet he stayed true to God's call on his life prayed and pleading for true heaven sent revival.

"Those who know of Leonard Ravenhill recognize in him the religious specialist, the man sent from God to battle the priests of Baal on their own mountain top, to shame the careless priest at the altar, to face the false prophet, and to warn the people who are being led astray by him. " - Tozer | "Leonard Ravenhill was one of the few men I have ever known who was a true prophet." - David Wilkerson

Leonard Ravenhill was a Christian evangelist and author who focused on the subjects of prayer and revival. He is best known for challenging the modern church and his most notable book is Why Revival Tarries.

He was a student of church history and an expert in the field of revival. His meetings during the war years drew large crowds in Britain, and as a result many converts devoted themselves to Christian ministry and the world's mission fields.

Through his teaching and books, Ravenhill addressed the disparities he perceived between the New Testament Church and the Church in his time and called for adherence to the principles of biblical revival.

Leonard Ravenhill became one of the twentieth century's greatest authorities on revival. His message is drastic, fearless, and often radical.

Appalled by the disparity between the New Testament Church and what passes for the Church today, Ravenhill gives a no-compromise call to the principles of biblical revival.

Are we willing to drink His cup?

Luke chapter12, verses 49 and 50. I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! I’ve been going to meetings for over seventy years all over the world—Pentecostal conferences, ... Read More

Be Angry and Sin Not

If you attend church at all, you will undoubtedly hear a thousand sermons on "Be filled with the Spirit" (Eph. 5:18) for every one sermon you hear preached on "Be ye angry, and sin not" (Eph.4:26). This is a command! It is not a defense for a bad temper. It is not an excuse for an explosion of bitte... Read More

Billy Nicholson - The Irish Whitefield

In the year 1900 a "massed band" of four people marched out-of-step down the main street of Bangor in Northern Ireland. The two members with uniforms were Salvation Army lassies; the other two were young men. One of these men had a mind keen as a razor's edge; the other (according to the first) "had... Read More

Branded for Christ

In a certain sense, all men are strangers to one another. Even friends do not really know each other. To know a man, one must know all the influences of heredity and environment, as well as his countless moral choices that have fashioned him into what he is. Though we do not really know one another,... Read More

Christ Magnified in My Body 1

Phillipians 1:20, "According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body..." Christ Magnified in My Body 2

You can have a blast from Hell and not be moved, if you’re in the will of God. They’ll hurt. How can you get victory if there’s no battle? He said "We are more than conquerors through him that loved us. What are you conquering? Charles Wesley has a hymn in which he says, Should all the hosts of deat... Read More

Faith Laughs at Impossibilities

Peter in prison! What a jolt! We are too far removed from the actual scene to catch the atmosphere of dismay the Christians of that day felt. Peter had moved from Pentecost to prison, from jeers to spears. He was guarded by sixteen soldiers. One wonders why such a defenseless man needed such a group... Read More

George Fox - The unshakable Shaker

"The most remarkable incident in modern history perhaps is not the Diet of Worms, still less the battle of Austerlitz or Peterloo, or any other battle. "The most remarkable incident is passed over carelessly by most historians and treated with some degree of ridicule by others - namely, George Fox's... Read More

IN 1762 John Wesley made his second invasion of the City of Galway in Ireland. Unknown to him, snug in his cradle in a corner of the same country lay a baby boy who when Wesley had ceased his labors would be beginning a ministry scarcely less effective and endued with the same baptism of fire. Gideo... Read More

Peep with me through the window of history and see the eighteenth century cluttered with genius. That pompous dandy we see over there is Beau Nash, famed as the master of ceremonies of the fashion courts in Bath. (Later John Wesley will puncture his pride.) George Willet - A man after God's own heart

When this presbytery was held, outside the memory of most of us, the church in Cumberland was troubled and in crisis. "The love of many [had waxed] cold." Defections had occurred. Some of the masters in her Israel had withdrawn, carrying off weight and influence and leaving behind them a host of per... Read More

It is Finished

John 19:30 "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar He said, 'It is finished' and He bowed His head and gave up the ghost." John the Baptist and the Fire of God 1

Luke 3:16 We are going to look into the Gospel as recorded by Luke and the third chapter. I suppose most of us can quote John 3:16 without looking at it. How many of us can quote Luke 3:16?
