To criticize is to point out something wrong or off with regards to a person. The term that the Bible uses in more detail is “rebuke.” Here, the idea is the same with criticism, but with rebuke the basis is the word of God. A person may rebuke someone if that someone goes against what the word of God says.

On the other hand, criticism points out a mistake based on the critic’s preferences or principles. The Bible teaches everyone not to judge, but this just means we should not judge or criticize solely based on our own opinion. We are also instructed to point out each others’ mistakes based on the Bible.

Once a person uses the word of God as basis, the other person would not think that it is a personal attack, but a show of concern. What other verses talk about criticize and rebuke in the Bible?
