He sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said:</h3>18 <poetry>I love you, <smallCap>Lord</smallCap>, my strength. </poetry> 2 <poetry>The <smallCap>Lord</smallCap> is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; <indent>my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, </indent> <indent>my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.</indent></poetry> 3 <poetry>I called to the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap>, who is worthy of praise, <indent>and I have been saved from my enemies. </indent> </poetry> 4 <poetry>The cords of death entangled me; <indent>the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.</indent> </poetry> 5 <poetry>The cords of the grave coiled around me; <indent>the snares of death confronted me.</indent></poetry> 6 <poetry>In my distress I called to the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap>; <indent>I cried to my God for help.</indent> From his temple he heard my voice; <indent>my cry came before him, into his ears.</indent> </poetry> 7 <poetry>The earth trembled and quaked, <indent>and the foundations of the mountains shook; </indent> <indent>they trembled because he was angry. </indent> </poetry>
