God has assumed the 
responsibility of a Father, and has taken up those responsibilities to meet them 
in and through His Son. The enlargement of that in Christian utterance is found 
in Philippians 4:19. This means Christ recognized, Christ known, God in Christ, 
and that on the ground of our utter separation unto Him. But note: it is God’s 
gift. He says that it was not Moses that gave the manna in the wilderness, but 
His Father. Then it is not the result of man’s labors, it is the issue of God’s 
grace. Are you laboring for spiritual growth? How we have striven and strained 
to increase our spiritual measure and our spiritual stature. What a burden we 
have taken upon us in relation to the maintenance of our own spiritual life! We 
have almost assumed the whole responsibility for our spiritual life, and made it 
as though it depended upon our labors in prayer, our labors in the Word of 
God, our labors in the Lord’s service, our effort, our stress.
No one will think that we have 
made little of prayer or the Word. No one will think that we have said you must 
have no care whatever for your spiritual life, but there is such a difference 
between assuming responsibility for ourselves and recognizing that God has 
assumed that responsibility. And because God has assumed the responsibility we 
should cooperate with God. There is all the difference between trying to work 
for our justification, and working because we are justified; between trying to 
work for our perfection, and working because our perfection is secured in 
Christ. The difference is not merely technical, it is practical, and of immense 
value. Sometimes it is necessary for the Lord to say to us: "Look here, you are 
making far too much of your own praying, far too much of your own business in 
the Scriptures, you are unconsciously coming to think that everything depends 
upon how much and how fervently you pray." And then you go out and talk to other 
people about your prayer life as a kind of setting up against their own. You do 
not mean it, but the implication is that this is what accounts for your growth, 
and it is going to count for other people’s growth. That must not be a cause but 
a result. 'The cause, the secret, the spring of everything is Myself, and 
sometimes you will just have to cease straining, and rest back in Me, in loving 
trust. Learn to do that a little more, and then you will pray better, and I 
shall be able to do something more!'

This is what God does not intend.""The very essence of the condition of a soul in a right state is conscious dependence. Now one may use the fact of completeness in Christ to make one independent. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God. § Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, “Your sins are forgiven you,” or to say, “Arise, take up your bed and walk”? § If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes. All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. § Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith? § Look at the birds of the air … your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? § Why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no bread? Do you not … remember the five loaves of the five thousand? </blockquote>How difficult it is for the hungry heart to adjust to the Father's pace. He is so deliberate and thorough, while our need is so pressing and paramount. Apart from never being behind time, our Father is an eternity ahead of time! We have but to see in the Word what He has accomplished on our behalf in the Lord Jesus, and then quietly rely upon Him, "according as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness" (<a id="verse_1632877232452464" href="https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/2-Peter/1/3">2 Pet. 1:3</a>)."God will perfect that which concerneth His own; and even where there are mistakes and failures, as alas! there are in abundance with all of us, the Lord's rich grace abounds over all, and actually takes occasion from our very mistakes to shine out all the more brightly - though, assuredly, the mistakes and failures must produce their own painful and humiliating results."It is the remembrance of this which alone can give calm repose in the midst of the most discouraging circumstances.  Guarded And Guided

All things come from You, and of Your own we have given You. For we are aliens and pilgrims before You, as were all our fathers; our days on earth are as a shadow, and without hope. O Lord our God, all this abundance … is from Your hand, and is all Your own. § Of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen. The living God … gives us richly all things to enjoy. § Every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.  The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness. 

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. § His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good inheritance. § Whether … the world or life or death, or things present or things to come—all are yours. § Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.  My cup runs over. 

You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. § Of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. § My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. § God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.  Poor, yet making many rich. 

I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread. § His … bread will be given him, his water will be sure. § The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook. My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. § Be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna … that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. § Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread. 

He knows your need. It seems to you that no one can know it, it is so vast. He knows it better than you do yourself. He does not confound you with others, saying, I know what man needs; but he knows you, yourself, and is acquainted with all the necessities of your individual being, as though every thought, every desire, that had ever trembled in your heart had spent itself in his own infinite mind. It has done so! The multitude of your own aspirations are not present to you, are lost to you, but he has caught them all in his own vessel, and will see to it that all are duly fulfilled. He knows your need; your bodily and your social need, your intellectual need, your spiritual need. Your need to-day, your need yesterday, and your need to-morrow. And he knows it that he may supply it. Ask and receive. Your most urgent need he satisfies at once. Your most pressing need is to be free from vain desires, and to know how to prefer the best gifts. He does not make your needless, but he refines it from its grossness, and then he satisfies it. " My God;" the God of Paul, will do it. Think how he supplied the need of Paul on earth; - how he has supplied it since in heaven; - how he will ever supply it; and let all unbelief and anxiety vanish from your minds.

God is faithful and true. He cannot lie or deceive. He cannot go back on His word. He is absolutely trustworthy. No promise of His can ever fail."God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"(Numbers 23:19). "Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God" (Deuteronomy 7:9). "Thy faithfulness is unto all generations" (Psalms 119:90).God's faithfulness is seen in His calling us into the fellowship of His Son (1 Corinthians 1:9). It is seen in not allowing us to be tempted beyond what we can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13). It is seen in the way He establishes us and keeps us from evil (2 Thessalonians 3:3). We know, for instance, that we are eternally secure, because He said that no sheep of His will ever perish (John 10:28). He wants us to be dependable in keeping appointments. We should not be given to lies, exaggeration or half-truths. We should be faithful in keeping our promises. Paul felt sure of this in reference to the Philippians, and we feel sure of it as to ourselves. God will do it, for it is like Him: He loves us, He delights to bless us, and it will glorify Him to do so. His pity, His power, His love, His faithfulness, all work together that we be not famished. What a measure doth the LORD go by: "According to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." The riches of His grace are large, but what shall we say of the riches of His glory? His "riches of glory by Christ Jesus"-who shall form an estimate of this? According to this immeasurable measure will God fill up the immense abyss of our necessities. He makes the LORD Jesus the receptacle and the channel of His fullness, and then He imparts to us His wealth of love in its highest form. Hallelujah! The writer knows what it is to be tried in the work of the LORD. Fidelity has been recompensed with anger, and liberal givers have stopped their subscriptions; but he whom they sought to oppress has not been one penny the poorer, nay, rather he has been the richer; for this promise has been true, "My God shall supply all your need." God's supplies are surer than any bank.

SO Paul assured believers at Philippi, and so he assures us. They had many wants, so have we; they were dependant on God, and so are we. The Lord engaged to supply them, and He is engaged to supply us. The Lord was faithful to them, and He will be faithful to us. His absolute promises are our invaluable treasure; His unchangeableness is our immutable security. While Jehovah lives we cannot be friendless, we shall never be left to want; and at last we shall be able to testify, "Not one thing hath failed of all that the Lord our God hath promised." We can this morning rejoice, and say, "The Lord hath blessed me hitherto. Thou has dealt well with Thy servant, O Lord, according to Thy word." Our wants should remind us of God's promises; the promises should be used to quell our fears, and comfort our hearts. In response to our coming, the free unmerited favor of God flows down to us, cancels our debt, imputes and imparts Christ's righteousness to us. How can Christ's righteousness be imputed and imparted to us? It's His righteousness, not ours. A simple illustration may help to illuminate this point. A dull little boy came home from school one day and said to his mother: "We've won a holiday." The truth was another boy had come top of the region in the examinations and the head teacher decided to give the whole school a holiday. Yet the dull little lad said: "We've won a holiday." Grace is like that. God permits the righteousness of Jesus to cover us and then, as we open ourselves to it - to enter us. He did it, but we benefit from it. Isn't grace really amazing?O Father, as I contemplate still further the "riches" of Your grace, once again I have to confess it's truly amazing. No wonder men and women use that term to describe Your grace. No other adjective will do! In 1604, King James I of England authorized that a new translation of the Bible into English be started. It was finished in 1611, just 85 years after the first translation of the New Testament into English appeared (Tyndale, 1526). The Authorized Version, or King James Version, quickly became the standard for English-speaking Protestants. Its flowing language and prose rhythm has had a profound influence on the literature of the past 400 years. The King James Version present on the Bible Gateway matches the 1987 printing.
