Scripture: 
Romans 7:7- What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” 
Romans 7:8- But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of coveting. For apart from the law, sin was dead. 
Romans 7:9- Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. 
Romans 7:10- I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death. 
Romans 7:11- For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death. 
Romans 7:12- So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good. 
Romans 7:13- Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! Nevertheless, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it used what is good to bring about my death, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful. 
Romans 7:14- We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 
Romans 7:15- I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 
Romans 7:16- And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 
Romans 7:17- As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 
Romans 7:18- For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 
Romans 7:19- For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 
Romans 7:20- Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. 
Romans 7:21- So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 
Romans 7:22- For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 
Romans 7:23- but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.

Romans 6:12 - Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 
Romans 6:13 - Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.

Righteousness Through Faith

22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. 
27Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. 28For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. 29Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. 31Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

The Fairness of God | Romans 2:6-16 | Mike Hilson | NEWLIFE Church

This message by Mike Hilson is based out of Romans 2:1-5 and titled "Judging Others". What does it mean to judge? The Bible says not to judge others but our culture is all about judging. The world encourages us to “speak your mind” and “make your voice be heard” but is that what we are called to do? God is the one and only Judge not us so where does that leave us? We are called to show grace. Showing the world the grace that God has given us will draw in the broken. In Romans, Paul is going to explain how we are not to be judgmental but be givers of grace. Scripture Reference: Romans 2:1-5 
1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 
2 Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 
3 So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? 
4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? 
5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.

Romans 1:18-32 NIV 
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 
19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 
21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 
22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 
23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. 
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 
25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. 
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 
27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. 
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 
29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 
30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 
31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 
32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
