God gives us much evidence for Christ.  In fulfillment of prophecies, none of Jesus bones were broken, but His side was pierced.  Also, the blood and water that flowed from His wound was evidence that He died from asphyxiation or hypovolemic shock, which would be the case in  a crucifixion.

The Pharisees didn't want dying bodies around for their Sabbath day, so they asked to have the legs of those crucified broken, so they would die sooner.
