September 11, 2021 ... 20 years to the day of those horrific terrorist attacks when 1000's of lives were lost in Shanksville, PA, New York City, and at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. 0n this 20th Anniversary of 9-11, may we always remember ... lest we forget ... and MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON AMERICA!! For as the Sacred Psalmist has said, "BLESSED IS THE NATION WHOSE GOD IS THE LORD, THE PEOPLE WHOM HE HAS CHOSEN FOR HIS OWN INHERITANCE." (Psalm 33:12) 
Indeed, because not a single one of us knows what any given day may bring ... and even and especially in the midst of all of the sorrows and sufferings, trials and tribulations, hurts and heartaches of life, our Lord Jesus taught us to pray (Matthew 6:10) just as He did in the Garden of Gethsemane shortly before going to Calvary's cross to the pay the penalty for the sins of His people: "Thy will be done." (Matthew 26:39-42)

"Let Builders Beware" - Psalms 127:1-2

In a small church cemetery in Olney, England, stands a granite tombstone with the following inscription, penned by the man buried there shortly before he passed away: "John Newton, clerk, once an infidel and Libertine, a servant of slavers in Africa, was, by the rich mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, preserved, restored, pardoned, and appointed to preach the Faith he had long labored to destroy." 
John Newton, of course, was one of the great evangelical preachers of the 18th Century and a man who composed literally 100's of hymns, perhaps the most famous and dearly loved being "AMAZING GRACE"!

"The Gospel of God's Grace" - Acts  20: 13-24

"FOR OUR STRUGGLE IS NOT AGAINST FLESH AND BLOOD, BUT AGAINST THE RULERS, AGAINST THE AUTHORITIES, AGAINST THE POWERS OF THIS DARK WORLD, AND AGAINST THE SPIRITUAL FORCES OF EVIL IN THE HEAVENLY REALMS."  So penned the APOSTLE PAUL to the church in EPHESUS some 2000 years ago (Ephesians 6:12) ... a HOLY SPIRIT-inspired text which is every bit as applicable for each and every one of us today as it was then!! Consequently, whether or not you are a Christian, YOU are cordially invited to come and worship with your friends at the POCONO REFORMED BIBLE CHURCH as Pastor, Rev. Rich Kuiken, will be addressing the SPIRITUAL WARFARE in which each and every one of us is regularly engaged by enabling us to glean three very personal and practical lessons from THE SEVEN SONS OF SCEVA as recorded for us in Acts 19:13-20!

The Seven Sons of Sceva, Acts 19: 13-20

"I AM NOT GOING TO TEACH MY CHILDREN THE LORD'S PRAYER BECAUSE GOD IS NOT THEIR FATHER ... THE DEVIL IS ... UNTIL THEY COME TO THE POINT OF PERSONAL REPENTANCE AND FAITH!" 
So said one young Christian father several years ago. Ah, but that 'begs the question', does it not: IS THAT TRUE??? That is, is it true that, prior to a relatively mature, conscious, personal repentance from sin and profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior that the children of Christian parents are, in effect, "little pagans" ... OR are they to be viewed as "young members of the believing, covenant community" who are to be nurtured, taught and trained in the Christian faith, and by God's sovereign grace and electing love brought to the point of "personal repentance of sin and profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior?" This is a CRITICALLY IMPORTANT QUESTION concerning which Christians differ! Ah, "BUT WHAT DOES THE SCRIPTURE SAY?" (Galatians 4:30) Well, since this is the VERY QUESTION which will be addressed by Rev. Rich Kuiken in a message entitled, "CHILDREN IN THE CHURCH" based upon the text of Isaiah 40:10-11.

COVID-19 STATISTICS: The United States has just surpassed 400,000 deaths reportedly linked to the coronavirus ... and oh, how we must PRAY for COMFORT for ALL THOSE who have lost loved ones to this dreaded disease as well as for HEALING for those still being infected and PROTECTION for those who have not!! But did you know that 400,000 ... as staggering a figure as that is ... represents LESS THAN 1% of the total number of DEATHS due to ABORTION in the United States alone ever since the infamous ROE v WADE decision rendered by the U.S. Supreme Court on January 22, 1973? 
That single decision ... which unilaterally and instantaneously over-turned the anti-abortion laws in all 50 states ... has now resulted in OVER 60,000,000 (that's MILLION!) deaths due to abortion ever since ... resulting in literally MILLIONS DEAD (the babies) and MILLIONS WOUNDED (the mother's)!

Well, some 2000 years ago, a disciple named STEPHEN may have been wondering that very same thing himself when, after being dragged before the Jewish Sanhedrin for preaching and performing great miracles in the Name of Jesus, he "preached a sermon" recounting the history of God's dealing with His people, Israel! Three Step Ministry Strategy - Acts 7: 1-60

"Hello again, radio friends, how in the world are you?" This was the standard greeting which Dr. Bob Cook, President of The King's College in Briarcliff Manor, New York, used to give to his radio audience at the beginning of his daily devotional broadcasts prior to his passing-on to glory! In fact, at times Dr. Cook would expand a bit on this standard greeting by saying, "I ask, 'How in the world are you?' because as Christians we are called to be IN but NOT OF the world!" 
 
Well friends, needless to say, Dr. Cook was not the first person to ever propose such sentiment! In fact, many of us may already be familiar with the words of our Lord Jesus in His so-called High Priestly prayer recorded for us in John 17 where Jesus prays to His heavenly Father concerning His disciples, saying, "My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it." (John 17:15-16) You are cordially invited to join us for worship as we carefully and prayerfully consider the personal and practical implications of what it means for us as Christians to be "IN BUT NOT OF THE WORLD"!!

In, But Not of the World - John 17:13-16

Have you ever been in prison? Personally, I have been to several prisons, even though I have never personally been "imprisoned"! Not so for the Apostle Paul. 
 
Paul suffered greatly for the cause of Christ (see, for example, II Corinthians 11:23-33). That is why the Sacred Scriptures contain that which theologians refer to as Paul's "Prison Epistles", Epistles which he penned under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit while he was in chains for the cause of Christ! One of those Prison Epistles is the Epistle to the church in Colossae, and tomorrow during our 10 AM worship service at the Pocono Reformed Bible Church we will carefully and prayerfully be considering together Colossians 4:2-6 centered around the theme, "PRISON PRIORITIES". As we prepare to close out 2019 and usher in the brand Near Year of 2020, please join us for worship as together we see how GOD would have us live our lives and consecrate this New Year to HIM!
