This lesson discusses a phrase found in Paul's letter to the Ephesians that many gloss over without understanding the practical significance of the phrase, "wall of hostility." 
 
Cheil and Soreg during the Second Temple period in Jerusalem. The Apostle Paul writes about a "wall of hostility" in Ephesians 2:14. This wall and sign is known by the names, "wall of partition," "middle wall of partition," "dividing wall of hostility," and the "dividing wall. The wall, "cheil," was a physical barrier preventing Gentiles from entering certain areas of the Second Temple grounds. 
 
The Temple Warning inscription, also known as the Temple Balustrade inscription or the Soreg inscription, was an inscription that hung along the balustrade outside the Sanctuary of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. Two of these tablets have been found. The inscription was a warning to pagan or Gentile visitors to the temple not to proceed further. Inscribed in the limestone sign was a warning to all Gentiles. 
 
The Soreg read: 
"No stranger is to enter within the balustrade round the temple and enclosure. Whoever is caught will be himself responsible for his ensuing 
death."

What is the connection of the bronze serpent in the wilderness that Moses crafted and the reference to Jesus in the Gospel of John that states, "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness so must be the Son of Man be lifted up." (English Standard Version) 
 
Stop focusing on your past snake bites, hurts, previous poisonous relationships, toxic people. Stop blaming God and other people and take a hard straight look at the root cause of you snake bite. Then look up to God from where your help comes from. 
 
As tough as it is for us to hear, the plain reading of Numbers 21 suggests that the Lord responded to the chaos and confusion the naysayers were creating amongst the Israelites by sending poisonous serpents to bite the people. 
 
The bronze snake in the wilderness that Moses crafted may have actually been made from copper. 
In Numbers 21:9 we read in Hebrew nachash nechoshet, referring to a "copper snake." Before we delve into the rest of the story, there is an interesting word play at work with the use of “fiery serpents” (nahashim haseraphim), “serpents” (nahash), and “serpent of brass” (nahash nehoshet) in verses six through nine. 
 
שחנ nehash - is the root of the word. This root alone does not appear to be used anywhere in the Hebrew Bible. The BDB Theological Dictionary3 suggests this root word may be onomatopoeic. In Numbers the serpent is described with a word by imitating the hiss of a snake. Jeremiah 46:22 in the NET offers another illustration of this linguistic device: Egypt will run away, hissing like a snake, as the enemy comes marching up in force. They will come against her with axes as if they were woodsmen chopping down trees. 
 
חשֶׁתנְ nechosheth – is often translated as bronze in many English translations. However, the Hebrew word for the metal being referred to was probably copper. 
 
Numbers 21:4-9 in the JPS 1917 translation reads, 
"And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to compass the land of Edom; and the soul of the people became impatient because of the way. And the people spoke against God, and against Moses: ‘Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.’ And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died. And the people came to Moses, and said: ‘We have sinned, because we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that He take away the serpents from us.’ And Moses prayed for the people. This rare blue color comes from the small creature found only in the Mediterranean Sea - the Chilazon. This blue color is mentioned in connection with the Tallit, the four cornered garment with one blue cord in the Tiztiz.

Molten metal is poured into the sand cast molds and allowed to cool before releasing the two halves of the mold. This is similar to the pattern and design of the Menorah crafted for the Temple Institute in Jerusalem, Israel.

In this video Dr. Terry Harman, aka "The Tabernacle Man" will comment on Exodus 25:31-40. The menorah seen in this video the second menorah made for his collection. This one was electric and not olive oil burning as in the Bible. The reason? When traveling with the tabernacle of Moses display it became hard to keep the first constructed menorah clean. The olive oil residue would collect dirt and grim as it was stored and unloaded for display. Therefore a more convenient prop was made for traveling. 
 
Since the beginning the goal was to create a menorah that would be similar to the one crafted by the Temple Institute in Jerusalem. After much work, Dr. Terry Harman found a foundry in India to work with him. Exodus 25:31-40 JPS 1917 
And thou shalt make a candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work shall the candlestick be made, even its base, and its shaft; its cups, its knops, and its flowers, shall be of one piece with it. And there shall be six branches going out of the sides thereof: three branches of the candlestick out of the one side thereof, and three branches of the candle-stick out of the other side thereof; three cups made like almond-blossoms in one branch, a knop and a flower; and three cups made like almond-blossoms in the other branch, a knop and a flower; so for the six branches going out of the candlestick. And in the candlestick four cups made like almond-blossoms, the knops thereof, and the flowers thereof. And a knop under two branches of one piece with it, and a knop under two branches of one piece with it, and a knop under two branches of one piece with it, for the six branches going out of the candlestick. 
Their knops and their branches shall be of one piece with it; the whole of it one beaten work of pure gold. And thou shalt make the lamps thereof, seven; and they shall light the lamps thereof, to give light over against it. And the tongs thereof, and the snuffdishes thereof, shall be of pure gold. Of a talent of pure gold shall it be made, with all these vessels. And see that thou make them after their pattern, which is being shown thee in the mount.

In this video Dr. Terry Harman, aka "The Tabernacle Man" will comment on Exodus 25:31-40. The menorah seen in this video the second menorah made for his collection. This one was electric and not olive oil burning as in the Bible. The reason? When traveling with the tabernacle of Moses display it became hard to keep the first constructed menorah clean. The olive oil residue would collect dirt and grim as it was stored and unloaded for display. Therefore a more convenient prop was made for traveling.

Since the beginning the goal was to create a menorah that would be similar to the one crafted by the Temple Institute in Jerusalem. After much work, Dr. Terry Harman found a foundry in India to work with him.
