Revelation 14:10-11 
Why do we suffer in hell forever? 
 
Revelation 14:10-11a 
They, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of His wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 
And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. 
 
This is the description of hell. "They", here, are the unbelievers. They are the people who do not accept and do not believe in Jesus. These people will be tormented with burning sulfur forever. I asked myself why must unbelievers suffer forever in hell? When we sin, say for 50 years, we probably need to be punished say, for 90 years and that'll be good, right? but FOREVER?? 
 
Well, they suffer for eternity because of their sinful states. They suffer not because of the result of what they did in their lifetime. But as a result of who they were. It is NOT because we have LESS sin that we go to Heaven but we must be completely sinless. Not a drop of sin that stain us. 
 
All of us are born as sinners, or unbelievers and that is our original state. When we die as sinners, we cannot commune with a holy God. We are so stained with sin, we are destined to be separated from God forever. So we will be in hell forever 
 
So how do we escape hell? We need to be born again. That is believing and receiving Jesus Christ as our Lord saviour and let Him lead our lives. When we do that, we receive a new spirit and the old spirit dies away. He is the only one that can redeem our sin and help us escape hell.

The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.” 
 
Jesus wants us to love others unconditionally. What does that mean? It is a love that says “no matter what you do to me, I still love you and I will do it for you even if you don’t return the favour”. When we disobey the second one, we are disobeying the first one as well because when we don’t love our neighbors, we don’t love God. We cannot separate the two. The first is a vertical obedience and the second is a horizontal obedience. Hence a cross

Mark 12:31

The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.”

Jesus wants us to love others unconditionally. What does that mean? It is a love that says “no matter what you do to me, I still love you and I will do it for you even if you don’t return the favour”. So how can I love a person unconditionally when I don’t even like his or her personalities or characters?

A Short Bible Reflection : Mark 12:31 - How do I love others as I love myself?

1 John 3 : 22

This verse is often misused. Many say that God will give us if we ask Him. But notice the end of the verse. It says "the things that are pleasing in His sight". 1 John 5:14 confirms this. Listen to this :

James 1 :14-15 
 
Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. 
 
We are always tempted by our own lust which we are naturally born with. What is lust? Thomas Constable says lust is the desire to do, to have or to be something apart from God’s will. So it can take on many forms, it can be sexual desire, lust for money, lust for success, even lusting to be someone else. Our lust open ways to temptation. Temptation itself is not a sin but our response to it will lead to sin. So what do we do when tempted? Paul says flee or run away from that temptation. Don't fight it. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that God will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear and He will show us the way to get out of temptation if we ask Him. 
 
It is like us driving on a highway and on each distance there's an exit ramp. These exit lanes are for us to slow down and get out. That is how God provides us the way to flee. 
 
Another tip is to turn that lustful thoughts into godly thoughts. For example, when we see a woman and have lustful thoughts about her, instead of entertaining that thoughts, pray for that woman. Turn our lustful thoughts into a blessing for her. That way we don’t give in to our desire.

A Short Bible Reflection : 1 Corinthians 14:2 Speaking in tongue

1 Corinthians 2:12-13 
 
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, 13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. 
 
Notice Paul says that the wisdom of God is freely given to us which means we have unlimited free access to His wisdom. When we come to faith in Jesus Christ, we will receive the Holy Spirit who will indwell inside of us. 
 
And through the Holy Spirit, we have this free access to God's mind and His wisdom. It's like you are given an unlimited free subscription with no expiry date to all the world's libraries. You have access to billions and trillions of information. Yet if you don't use it, you know nothing. 
 
Having an unlimited access with no expiry date doesn't mean you become wise and knowledgeable automatically. You have to log into it, read and study the information. The same with God's wisdom. We can access it through the Holy Spirit. 
 
The question is are you activating the Holy Spirit in you?

Our hope is not more wealth or health but to live on eternally with our resurrected bodies. Our hope is in Jesus being resurrected because if He didn’t, what we do here on earth is pointless

Many people may not realise this but do you know that Mary had 4 sons besides Jesus and daughters. Mary was a virgin but she eventually had 4 sons and daughters. Mary is no different from any other characters in the bible like Elizabeth or Ruth. A sinner saved by grace. The only person that should be worshipped and idolised is none other than Jesus Christ our Lord

Luke 22:10-12 He (Jesus) replied, “As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.” 
 
It was the feast of Unleavened Bread celebration. And Jesus asked the disciples to find a man with a jug of water. He would then lead them to a room prepared for their Last Supper at the upper room. Have you ever wondered what went on in this man's mind? Without knowing anything, God had already appointed him to prepare a room and not knowing that the disciples would go to him and say "I believe you have prepared a room for us". 
 
Did he just suddenly have an urge to prepare a room when I am sure he had already prepared one downstairs for his family to celebrate too. Did his wife think he's crazy to prepare 2 rooms? Did he know that the Messiah was coming to his house? What did he say to his wife when he went to fill up the jug? Remember, men are not usually to carry jugs. Women usually do that as it's their job in that days. How many doubts and hesitations did he go through as he was doing this? That is what will happen to us too when the Holy Spirit comes calling. 
 
All we need is an act of faith in obedience. This is what we call faith in obedience - the time when you feel like sending a cheque to someone without any reason or doing a certain ministry in faith or walk up to a stranger and tell her about Christ or pray for him? Have you experienced that? Think about this : what if you did not obey? This man who prepared the upper room for Jesus would have missed the chance of being mentioned in the bible. Will you obey to the Spirit's calling?

Genesis 46 : 27 and the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt were two; all the persons of the house of Jacob, who came to Egypt, were seventy. 
 
 
70 was the number of Jacob’s household that moved to Egypt including Joseph. When the nation of Israel leaves Egypt after 3 generations, these 70 people had grown to 600,000 and that’s only counting the men of above 20 years old. With their wives and children, it’s 2 million. These are the people that is forming a nation inside a nation of Egypt. It’s really incredible that God had grown a nation inside a nation just like He promised Abraham that his descendants will be multitudes like grains of sand. 
 
 
The number “70” in itself is also significant. 70 means God’s sovereign purpose has been accomplished through the works of men. We can see this meaning in many examples like when Joseph died, Egypt mourned for 70 days, Moses was given 70 elders to Israel, 70 years was Israel’s captive outside of the land, Hebrew text was translated to Greek by 70 leaders of Israel, 70 Sanhedrin counsel were used to decide, when Jesus was put on the cross. These numbers are literal and real count. It is not symbolic. Why does God want to do this? Well, it is God’s intent to put His fingerprints on each of these events for the purpose that He ordained. He is telling us that it is of no coincidence and He is reminding us He is in control of all these events just like He promises and plans and wills it.

Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him (Jesus) over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. 
 
30 pieces of silver is the price that Judas got for betraying Jesus Christ. It is not a random number. The law in that days says that if a man’s ox kills another man’s slave, then the compensation is 30 pieces of silver (Exodus 21:32). In other words, the chief priests are saying that Jesus has the same value as a dead slave, which is a terrible insult. 
 
Zecharia 11:13 actually prophesised this too. Later, Judas was overcome with guilt for betraying Jesus, and, he threw the thirty silver coins into the temple fulfilling Zecharia's prophecy 
 
Interestingly, in those days, a priest would symbolically killed 1 lamb in the temple to represents all the lambs or goats that the Jews sacrificed. This Lamb serves as Israel’s national Passover Lamb. This lamb meets all the Passover requirement. The 30 pieces of silver that was paid to Judas were most likely to be taken from the temple treasury by the chief priest. Jesus in this case, represents that national Passover lamb. Jesus IS THE Passover Lamb for all that satisfy all God’s holiness and glory. Only through Christ’s righteousness, we are righteous.
