Some of the names that you will read in today's scripture are names of the forefathers of Christ during the 'Silent Season' of God's relationship to humanity. When God is silent, what do you think He's doing? When He's silent in your life, what message are you receiving and is it accurate to His work?

Advent In A Minute Day 23 Matthew 1:12 - 16

You wouldn't be able to tell by today's scripture but God had placed 'other players on the table' in regards to ensuring that the promise of the Seed would reach its fruition, those other players being the Prophets, among them the Prophet Isaiah.

Advent In A Minute Day 21 1 Chronicles 3:15, 16

We continue to trace the passage of the Seed promised from Genesis 3:15. As we do so we become aware that there is a bigger picture to consider when we look at Advent.

Our journey through the scriptures and the lineage of Christ brings us to the conclusion of Solomon's reign and the reign of his son Rehoboam. You can read more about Rehoboam in the Old Testament passages of 1 Kings 12 and 1 Kings 14. 
 
The path of the Seed promised by God is not one dependent on pedigree; while others can look on their family tree with a level of pride, this isn't necessarily always the case in the lineage of Christ. It may not always be the case in your lineage either. But God was and is working in your family line! Advent is evidence of that. Be encouraged today!

At this point in the journey we arrive at the youngest of Jesse's sons, David.  The lineage of Christ continues through the boy who would one day become king!  It's a reminder that God really does look at the heart as He accomplishes His good and perfect will in and through us.  Thank you for continuing on our Advent journey through the generations of the promised Seed!
