JESUS SAVES 4 ETERNITY

IF GOD HAS ASKED YOU TO DO SOMETHING FOR HIM, HE WILL EQUIP YOU WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO DO HIS WILL AND PURPOSE! 
 
So if He has called you to evangelise, He will equip you with the boldness and right words to do so. (Luke 12:11-12) 
 
If He has called you to start that business to be able to help finance His Kingdom and be generous towards those in need, He will provide for you to be able to do this. (2 Corinthians 9:8-11, Philippians 4:19) 
 
If Jesus has called you to teach the word of God, He will teach you His word through the Holy Spirit to be able to teach others!! (John 14:26, Romans 12:6-7) 
 
IF he has called you to be a pastor in a church, He will equip you with wisdom, leadership and grace to shepherd the sheep. (James 1:5, Romans 12:6-8) 
 
May take comfort in knowing Jesus will equip you for His purpose!!

“GOD’S CREATIVE POWER AND MERCY” (Genesis 1:24-25, Genesis 7:1-2)

As Christians, we find in 1 Peter 2:5 that part of our calling is to be a HOLY PRIESTHOOD that offers SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES acceptable to God IN CHRIST JESUS! 
 
Biblically speaking, these “spiritual sacrifices” may include: 
 
1.A SACRIFICE OF PRAISE (Hebrews 13:15)

Matthew 25:1-13 PARABLE OF THE 10 VIRGINS! 
 
CONTEXT: The theme of these parables in Matthew 25 is about Jesus' second coming and making sure that we are ready when He comes!! 
-The common theme is also about the SEPARATION of the good (saved/righteous) from the bad (unsaved/unrighteous) when Jesus comes!! 
Who were the 10 virgins? Bridesmaids in a Jewish wedding. (Psalm 45:13-14) 
 
 
CULTURAL CONTEXT: A JEWISH WEDDING 
1.When the potential groom and bride had come to a decision to want to get married and the families of the potential bride and groom had successfully negotiated, a COVENANT was drawn up by the grooms side and offered to the bride who could choose to reject or accept the terms of the covenant! This was done by the groom offering the bride a CUP OF WINE. Her acceptance of the terms of the covenant were shown by whether she took the cup and drank it or rejected the cup. This happened at the BETHROTHAL (the modern day equivalent of the engagement). If the BRIDE accepted the terms of the covenant, she would drink from the cup! (Think of how this relates to 1 Corinthians 11:25 and Luke 22:20 and how Jesus offered the cup of wine of His blood of the NEW COVENANT to His disciples at the last supper/COMMUNION!) 
 
2.In this wedding proposal, The grooms side would be the one to have to offer a DOWRY to the brides side. This was because the brides family would not only be losing their daughter who was labour and help to her family (since the groom and bride would go to live with the grooms family) but also if the groom happened to pass away, this dowry would help provide for the bride in the case of her being widowed!! (Think of the Dowry Jesus paid for His bride the church. His dowry was the sacrifice of His own life to purchase His bride!! 1 Corinthians 6:19-20) 
 
3.Once the BETHROTHAL was done, the bride would now therefore be SET-APART FOR THE GROOM (2 Corinthians 11:2) and could marry no-one else. (Eg. Mary and Joseph in Matthew 1:18) 
Likewise the church is now SET-APART and called to be holy for Jesus!! (1 Peter 1:15-16, 1 Corinthians 1:2) 
 
4.Once the BETHROTHAL was done, the groom would now go back to his father’s house and spend the next year or so PREPARING A PLACE IN THE FATHER’S HOUSE for he and his bride to eventually live!! Likewise in John 14:1-4 Jesus said He was going back to The FATHER to prepare a place for us to live and He would come back to take us to be with Him where He was!! 
 
5.Almost a year later, it would come time for the MARRIAGE SUPPER and WEDDING BANQUET. Amazingly, the only one who knew the EXACT TIMING of the marriage supper would be the father, not the son, nor the bride, nor any of the guests!! When the father deemed it was the right time, he would then tell the son “now go and get your bride and come”. This reminds us of Matthew 24:36 and how Jesus said “NO-ONE KNOWS ABOUT THAT DAY OR HOUR, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but ONLY THE FATHER.” 
 
6.Since the bride didn’t know the exact day or hour of the grooms coming, she had to make sure she was ready at all times, as the groom could COME LIKE A THIEF IN THE NIGHT at any time, even at midnight!! Likewise the church (the bride of Christ) must be ready at all times as Jesus could come at any moment!! (Matthew 24:42-44) 
 
7.When the GROOM comes for the bride on that day and hour, he would often announce it with a BLOW OF THE TRUMPET/shofar or a loud shout! (See 1 Thessalonians 4:16 and how Jesus will come for the rapture of His church with the TRUMPET CALL OF GOD!) 
The virgins were the equivalent of BRIDESMAIDS (virgins- Matthew 25:1-13) and would need to make sure they had enough oil to light their lamps to help escort the groom and bride from the brides house to the grooms place for the WEDDING BANQUET! If the virgins didn’t have enough oil to light their lamps, they would not be able to escort the bride and groom and therefore wouldn’t be able to join the procession to go in for the wedding banquet!!
