The psalmist here highlights a truth that many people refuse to acknowledge. IT will not matter what honor or riches you have here that you rely upon, one day you will die and it will be of no lasting value. The man who puts his trust in wealth or the economy, or the government will perish along with the wealth, economy, and the government. SO he is calling for the believer not to worry about the fact that the wicked man "appears" to be prospering. His prosperity will follow him to the grave and it will be no more. But the man who trusts in God will have his honor with him in the presence of God. 
 
 
Psalm 49:12-20 
12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.

A Journey Through The Psalms (Psalm 45:9-17) The Kings Bride

The psalmist makes another transition from verse 14 to verse 15. He places himself as a representative for the nation and approaches God on their behalf. He knows God has a covenant with his people and the psalmist declares to God in confidence that they have done all that has been required. He determines that no matter what God does to them or allows that they will not turn away.

A Journey Through The Psalms (Psalm 35:22-28) My Tongue Shall Speak Of Thy Righteousness

Following verse 8, David now says, And my soul shall be joyful. This is likely, not what it sounds like on the surface. If we look further into this passage, David is not saying he will joy in the destruction of his enemies, but the salvation of the LORD. 
 
We should be careful not to celebrate the destruction of a man, but the deliverance we find when it happens. 
 
The moment you proclaim to be a believer, the world begins watching. Waiting to see you fail. Looking for every opportunity to claim discredit to thie Jesus thing. You will have those who are hungry for the truth but when you mess up, and you will, we all do, mockers and scoffers are likely not far. 
 
But do not let that stop you from getting back up and moving forward. The getting up is what validates our journey.

Right in the middle of Davids prayer, a sense of peace comes over him as he recognizes that God has heard him. This entire Psalm is a grand picture of the coming Messiah. God promises to never leave us nor forsake us. David is so overwhelmed by recalling this that he has no other choice in himself but to rejoice and share it with everyone! We should have that same joy!

As we can see by how this passage ends, David is aware that he cannot take credit for it. David also makes a statement were he refers to "mine" iniquity. This, I believe, is Davids acknowledgement similar to Galatians 5:16 where Paul says to walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. David expresses that iniquity still dwells within himself but by the power of God he has kept himself from fulfilling it. As should we.

A Journey Through The Psalms (Psalm 6:1-5) David's Depression Part 1

You saved our lives, we are eternally grateful. This is what the aliens said in Tou Story when Mr. Potato Head saved them from the claw machine. They vowed there allegiance to him. In there culture, it was considered a life debt. Many cultures in the past have practiced a similar concept. Paul here in Romans is making the same kind of claim. 
 
Romans 1:14-15 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel... 
 
The Apostle Paul understood what Christ had done for him. The chief of sinners himself considered the preaching of the gospel and the life lived for Christ a moral obligation. Not only an obligation but a privilege to serve Christ in whatever circumstance. Paul recognized that what Christ says was true, in this life you will have trouble but be of good cheer. Paul knew that the present sufferings of this world were nothing compared to the glory to come. 
 
We should be as eager and willing to serve Christ no matter the cost in light of what he has done for us. 
 
We would call this a life-debt.

The Apostle Paul understood what Christ had done for him. The chief of sinners himself considered the preaching of the gospel and the life lived for Christ a moral obligation. Not only an obligation but a privilege to serve Christ in whatever circumstance. Paul recognized that what Christ says was true, in this life you will have trouble but be of good cheer. Paul knew that the present sufferings of this world were nothing compared to the glory to come.
