Jesus said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” (John 6:20, NRSV)
In the life of a Christian “Be not afraid”is the constant admonition of faith. This was the word of angels to the shepherds the night our Lord was born; it was the repeated word of our Saviour's ministry; and in John's final vision of the Christ, it was the word that led all the rest (Rev1:17,18).
It is also true that clouds and darkness often surround the children of the light and of the day. Disciples, see Jesus walking on the sea. Even the approaches of comfort and deliverance often are so mistaken, as to become the occasions of fear. Nothing is more powerful to convince sinners than that word, I am Jesus whom you persecute; nothing more powerful to comfort saints than this, I am Jesus whom you love. If we have received Christ Jesus the Lord, though the night is dark, and the wind high, yet we may comfort ourselves, we shall be at the shore before long. God Bless You.
