Theres No I In Church
Vision 2009
February1, 2009
Ephesians 4:11-13
Since we are all one body in Christ, we belong to each other, and each of us needs all the others. Romans 12:5b (NLT)
Christ is the head of the church, His body, of which He is the Savior. Ephesians 5:23b (NIV)
Jesus said: I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18b (KJV)
If a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. Mark 3:25 (KJV)
We Have To Work Together
For God To Grow A Great Church
1. Working Together Brings Glory To God.
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:5-6 (NIV)
Ephesians 4:11-13 (NIV)
It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
In this way we are like the various parts of a human body. Each part gets its meaning from the body as a whole, not the other way around. The body were talking about is Christs body of chosen people. Each of us finds our meaning and function as a part of His body. But as a chopped-off finger or cut-off toe we wouldnt amount to much, would we? So since we find ourselves fashioned into all these excellently formed and marvelously functioning parts in Christs body, lets just go ahead and be what we were made to be, without enviously or pridefully comparing ourselves with each other, or trying to be something we arent.
Romans 12:4-6a (MSG)
As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. Ephesians 4:16 (NLT)
2. Working Together Requires Grace and Humility.
People who do not get along with others are interested only in themselves Proverbs 18:1a (TEV)
Make allowance for each others faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Colossians 3:13 (NLT)
By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. John 13:35 (NASB)
SOME OF THE ONE ANOTHERS IN THE BIBLE:
John 13:34Love one another
Rom 12:10 Be devoted to one another
Rom 12:16 Live in harmony with one another
Rom 15:7 Accept one another
Gal 5:13 Serve one another in love
Eph 4:2 Put up with one another
Eph 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another
Col 3:16Teach and admonish one another
Heb 3:13 Encourage one another daily
1 Pet 4:9Offer hospitality to one another
3. Working Together Is What God Commands.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
Through Christ, God has made peace between us and himself, and He gave us the work of telling everyone about the peace we can have with Him So we have been sent to speak for Christ!
2 Corinthians 5:18, 20 (NCV)
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:3-6 (NIV)
