In 1 Kings 13 we have an encounter between two unnamed prophets that ultimately has an older prophet lying to the other prophet. And that lie actually costs the other prophet his life. But why did the other prophet trust the lie? Perhaps the same reason we believe lies today; we don't trust the Word of God even when it's sure.
