Well in chapter 3 last week we saw how ministerial gifts work together for the benefit of the body of Christ. It’s not about us nor is it really about our gifting’s, It’s about being willing and obedient. Paul said this when writing to the church in Corinth.
1 Corinthians 3:6-8
6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. 8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
In other words no one is greater than another, we are simply willing vessels submitting to the leading of the Holy Spirit and He does the work in us and through us.
We also saw that as disciples we will go through suffering, and we should not be surprised or alarmed when this happens. But his suffering and ours are for the consolation and salvation of others. Whether in affliction or comfort it’s all for His glory and the benefit of the church.
Finally Paul exhorted the church to increase and abound in love for one another which is ultimately what the second greatest commandment tells us we are to do.
This week we will see Paul’s exhortation to the church on the commandments given to the church regarding our walk.
