1 John 2

As he (Jesus) approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it and said, If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyesbecause you did not recognize the time of Gods coming to you. Luke 19:41, 42, & 44b (NIV)

Then Jesus told His disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. Luke 18:1 (NIV)

1 John 2:18-23
Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.

They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth.

Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist--he denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

How Do I Prayer For Those In My City?

1. Pray That People Will Become Open To Jesus Christ.

Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 2:15-17 (NASB)



2. Pray That My Christ-like Example Will Shine In The Darkness.

You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Matthew 5:14-16 (NLT)

Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble. But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him.
1 John 2:9-11 (NIV)

I write to you
•Dear Children:

because your sins have been forgiven on account of his namebecause you have known the Father. (vs. 12&13c)

•Young Men

because you have overcome the evil onebecause you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
(v. 13b&14b)

•Fathers

2xs: because you have known Him who is from the beginning. (v. 13&14)


3. Pray That Gods Love Will Bring Revival In And Through Me.

We know that we have come to know Him if we obey His commands. The man who says, "I know Him," but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys His word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in Him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.
1 John 2:3-6(NIV)

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have One who speaks to the Father in our defense--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of
