Text: Luke 2:41-52

We have seen in the book ‘The Christmas we didn’t expect’ Jesus’ identity.
• He is:
o One Person with
o Two Natures: Fully God and Fully Man

Each of those natures has a family – we see Jesus’ relationship with both in our passage.


1. Jesus’ devotion to his heavenly Father


2. Jesus obeyed his parents


Conclusion:
Jesus submitted to both his heavenly Father and to his earthly parents.

• Philippians 2:5-11 Jesus humbled himself and the Father exalted him.

• This is the way God deals with people: Luke 1:51-52

• We are called to humble ourselves before Jesus – to live with him as our Lord.

• When we do so Jesus exalts us. He lifts us up to join his family – but which family?

o His heavenly family – see John 1:12
