4:10 Dying to get life – John 12:24-25. A corn of wheat must fall into the ground and die in order to bring forth fruit. So, too, we must give up our lives and let Christ live in us (Galatians 2:20) because He is our life (Colossians 3:4), then we will be living out our eternal lives. The life of Christ in us (Galatians 2:20) is a good definition of our eternal lives. Eternal life is not in a place (heaven); it is in a person (Christ). It is having complete trust in God the Father, which only happens through living by the faith of the Son of God, as the Holy Ghost teaches us God’s Word.

“Mortal flesh” = “earthen vessels” (4:7)
Philippians 3:9-14 be found in Christ and HIS righteousness which is through the faith of Christ. Know His sufferings, be made conformable to His death. Apprehend life in Christ. This is the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
“Fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake” (Colossians 1:24).
Walk in newness of life – Romans 6:4
Use the mind of Christ to think that you are equal with God but also humble yourself and become obedient unto death (Philippians 2:5-8)
Jesus Christ learned obedience by the things He suffered (Hebrews 5:8-9). He was made “perfect through sufferings” (Hebrews 2:9-10).
Paul had the sentence of death in himself so that he would trust in God, not in himself (1:8-10).
