5:4 We do not hate our bodies (Ephesians 5:29), but we have to sacrifice them to Christ (Romans 12:1-2) for Christ to live in us (Galatians 2:20). Therefore, we are burdened, much like someone after a stroke.

We want mortality to “be swallowed up of life.”

Death is swallowed up in victory at the rapture (I Corinthians 15:51-54).

Because we do not receive our glorified bodies until the rapture, the dead in Christ rise first at the rapture (I Thessalonians 4:15-17).

Christ has His glorified body; we receive ours at the rapture (I Corinthians 15:23).

The Father MUST reign until the rapture (I Corinthians 15:24-28; Hebrews 2:8-10), because Christ’s body must be completed before it can take over heavenly places (Acts 2:33-36; Ephesians 1:19-23).

5:5 God has given us the down payment of the Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14), which gives us liberty to have Christ live in us (3:17).

We are made for life (John 10:10; Romans 6:3-5). “Wrought” (Ephesians 1:19-23) (God makes our new bodies, as He made our old bodies (Genesis 2:7; Psalm 139:14-16; I Corinthians 15:38).

With Christ in us, we are beautiful (Ecclesiastes 3:10-11).
