At the mid-point of King Hezekiah’s reign, he was presented with a problem that faced many kings and kingdoms of the ancient world. He found himself surrounded by a foreign army much larger and stronger than his own. He believed the situation to be so grim that he sued for peace by offering large amounts of his nation’s wealth to the powerful enemy. But this was the wrong approach and he should have known it. Instead of seeking peace with his enemy, he should have sought peace with his God.
