June 6, 2021(Summer Quarter): Sunday School Lesson 1 - "Joshua Commands the Sun to Stand Still" (Joshua 10:1-15). "The overriding truth for this summer quarter is a simple one: the Christian life is not for the faint of heart. God calls His people to be people of courage. Simply trusting Him takes courage; we must step out of our safe havens of comfort and follow Him wherever He leads." (Bible Expositor and Illuminator, Summer Quarter 2021, Looking Ahead, p. 2). This summer quarter, we discuss people of valor and their trust in God and witness God's mighty acts through His awesome power. In this first lesson we examine a miraculous event that occurred with the children of Israel and their leader Joshua while engaged in battle. We observe the omnipotence of God and the power of prayer. Hopefully you will gain an understanding that the power of God is not governed or contained by our human understanding or the finiteness of the laws of nature. It is our endeavor that the study of these summer quarter lessons help nurture our minds and spirits and mature us to experience healthier living.
