A sermon delivered by C.H. Spurgeon, Lord's Day morning January 11th 1874
How deeply do we desire revival? Today we feel, surely, an even greater spiritual barrenness than is here described. Spurgeon approaches the text with eloquence and keen imagination. He draws out here many truths which I had not considered. Here is a sermon which should encourage prayer for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and zealous action.
Spurgeon in one place speaks of the dangers of contentment with just a few conversions here and there, rather than multitudes. I felt justly rebuked for complacency!
