*Public Confession of Sin
Our Father, you are the wise, true, and immutable God with whom there is no shadow of change. You are the sovereign Lord who is the same both yesterday, today, and forever. Therefore, we are not consumed. Yet, we have sinned by presuming you are like us and entertaining low thoughts of you. Although you are unchangeable, we have lived as if you are subject to moods and affected by circumstances. Although you are most holy, we act as if you wink at sin and put up with evil. Although you are all-powerful, we cringe and cower as if you do not control all things. Although you are everywhere present, we often behave as if you cannot see what we do in secret. Have we not erred by misinterpreting your Word? Have we not stumbled by misapplying your law? Have we not transgressed by mistrusting your promises? We have no excuse and are without hope save in your mercy. Please forgive us for Christ’s sake. Amen.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow;

*Confession of Faith: The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell;**
The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
** i.e., his being buried, and continuing in the state of the dead, and under the power of death till the third day.
