Our Father, you are the majestic one who sits above the circle of the earth, who stretches out the heavens like a drape, who brings the princes to nothing. No one compares with you, the eternal three-in-one. You are the omnipotent God, the Creator of heaven and earth, and the one who is, who was, who is to come. We have sinned by refusing to do justice, declining to love kindness, and failing to walk humbly with our God. We claim to be faithful in big things but refute that claim by unfaithfulness in things that are small. Too often our word has not been reliable, our behavior has not been upright, and our love has not been worthy of trust. Because of our daily transgressions we have brought shame to ourselves and reproach to Christ. Wretched beings that we are! Apart from your Spirit there is no good within and apart from Jesus all hope is foregone! Please forgive us for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

Minister: What is your only comfort in life and in death?
Unison: That I, with body and soul, both in life and in death, am not my own, but belong to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ, who with His precious blood has fully satisfied for all my sins, and redeemed me from all the power of the devil; and so preserves me that without the will of my Father in heaven not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, that all things must work together for my salvation. Wherefore, by His Holy Spirit, He also assures me of eternal life, and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live unto Him.
