Mary was the mother of Jesus. She had a huge role in God's redemption story, yet, in many ways, she was a very unremarkable person. In this message from Luke 1, Gordon Dabbs, Ph.D., considers the ingredient in Mary's life that was hidden, but was the ingredient that made her life available to God.

The Advent series. . .

What is Advent? The term advent is from the Latin translation of "coming." God's prophecies in the Old Testament prepared the way for His promise. During December, Christians take part in advent as a way to celebrate the promise of the Savior, Jesus Christ both at birth and looking forward to His return.

"The celebration of Advent is possible only to those who are troubled in soul, who know themselves to be poor and imperfect, and who look forward to something greater to come." ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer

"God of hope, I look to you with an open heart and yearning spirit. During this Advent season, I will keep alert and awake, listening for your word and keeping to your precepts. My hope is in you." ~ Matthew Kelly
