Thanks for watching. Below is the sermon outline from pastor Christopher.

INTRODUCTION
Angels are among us. They are real. They are a creation of God. And they are active in our lives. And in my experience as I talk with people about angels there are usually two camps people fall in:
1. They have wrong beliefs about angels that aren’t based on the Bible.
2. They have a wrong attitude about angels, Satan, and demons in which they don’t take them seriously.

I. THEY ARE REAL
A. The Numbers
According to my NAS Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible, Scripture describes angels 385 times in 35 of the 66 books in our Bible. That’s more than half the books of the Bible which describe angels.
B. The Stories
Some of our favorite Bible stories include stories of angels:
o An announcement of the births of Ishmael (Gen 16:11), Isaac (Gen 18:1-15), Samson (Judg 13:3), and JtB (Luke 1:11), and Jesus (Luke 1:26-33)
o An announcement of the resurrection of Jesus (Matt 28:2, 6) and ascension (Acts 1:10-11)

II. THEY ARE CREATED (Psalm 148:1-6)
A. Context
B. Content
But we can see the content of the Psalm. The Psalmist calls on the heavens (vv. 1-6) to praise the Lord and the earth (vv. 7-14) to praise the Lord.
And the Psalmist says that all creation above the earth should praise the Lord:
o Heavens (v. 1)
o Sun, moon, and stars (v. 3)
o Highest heavens (v. 4)
o Waters above the heavens (v. 4)
Those are created elements that are personified as being able to worship the LORD. And part of those created elements of the heavens are “angels” and “hosts” (v. 2) “armies of heaven” (NLT). Angels are a creation of God just as the sun, moon, and stars are. Therefore they are to praise God as well because they are part of his creation.
C. Creation
Col 1:16, “For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.”

WE ARE SIMILAR TO ANGELS IN THAT WE WERE CREATED AT SOME POINT IN TIME BY GOD.
The Trinity has existed forever, but nothing else. There was a time when God the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit existed together but there was nothing else. No angels, no earth, no humans. So we are similar to angels in the fact that God created us at some point in time.
WE ARE SIMILAR TO ANGELS IN THAT WE PRAISE AND WORSHIP GOD TOO, WE DON’T PRAISE AND WORSHIP ANGELS.
In a way, angels are similar to us. They are created beings and they follow God’s directions. And we only praise and worship God our Lord, no one else. ILL of Sam Seachord, “No, Jesus is awesome.”

III. THEY ARE ACTIVE (Dan 9:20-23)
A. Context of Daniel
B. Audience of Daniel
C. Content of Daniel
1. God Shows His Care for Daniel by Sending Gabriel
2. God Shows His Provision for Daniel by Sending Gabriel

When we place our faith in Christ we receive special attention and care by angels.
Martin Luther, “The angels are near to us. [They] have long arms, and, although they stand before the fact and in the presence of God and his son Christ, they are hard by and about us in those affairs which by God we are commanded to take in hand.” I chose this passage because it is one of many that how God uses angels to care for us.

When we find ourselves in tough situations, don’t be surprised when God sends an angel to help us.
I don’t know how and wish I gave you a formula, but we shouldn’t be afraid of the miraculous to happen. For God to intervene by sending one of his angels to assist us and to help us. As Christians we believe in an amazing God that can do miraculous things, and sometimes he accomplishes those miraculous acts by using angels that follow Him and his commands.

III. THEY ARE (often) MISUNDERSTOOD
A. Normally Male, not Female (Zechariah 5:9)
B. Usually without Wings (Ezekiel 1:4-14)
C. Never with a Harp or Halo
D. But Maybe as Guardians (Matt 18:10)
E. Not Dead Christians

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THE VIEW WE HAVE OF ANGELS CORRECTLY REPRESENT HOW SCRIPTURE DESCRIBES ANGELS.

CONCLUSION
So while angels are often misunderstood, I hope our time together as shown you this morning that angels are real. They are created. And they are active in the lives of God’s people. This should give us comfort and confidence as believers in God that place our faith in God for salvation and strength to live life on earth. Because we know living as a believer on earth is not easy. But it is nice to know that God sends angels to help us.
