As we mentioned in our last couple of studies here in 2 Samuel, David has found himself in a comfortable place. God has blessed him tremendously. He is now firmly established as king over Israel and Judah. God has given him victory against all of his enemies and all seems to be well. This is a good place to be in, but it can also be a dangerous place. Often along with contentment, comes complacency. Complacency can bring idleness and idleness allows the mind to wonder and this can lead to temptation. David no longer senses his dependency upon God and he is restless.
