Focus: Spiritual leadership
Text: 1 Timothy 6:6 – 10

THE TITLE “MAN OF GOD”

1. An honourable title given to a godly man

2. Moses was called a man of God (Deuteronomy 33:1, Joshua 14:6)

3. Samuel was called a man of God (1 Samuel 9:6)

4. Timothy has to prove himself to be that “Man of God” whom the Lord will use significantly!

(1 Timothy 6:11)

THE CHALLENGE TO BE A MAN OF GOD

1. Active pursuits of these great spiritual attributes (1 Timothy 6:11)

a. Righteousness

b. Godliness

c. Faith

d. Love

e. Patience

f. Gentleness

2. Courage to fight the good fight of faith (1 Timothy 6:12a)

a. Fight

i. This is not a physical fight

ii. The idea of a spiritual battle

iii. There will be challenges in ministry that requires us to courageously battle!

b. The good fight of faith

i. To battle for the faith

ii. There are many who oppose the Christian faith

iii. The challenge to battle and defend the faith

iv. This is a good and noble battle!

CHALLENGES

1. To pursue the things that is of great spiritual significance in life!

2. To grow far deeper in our knowledge of God that we may defend our faith!

3. To cultivate spiritual strength and courage to battle the challenges of ministry!
