A WISE APPROACH TO PRAYER

“Bow down Your ear, O LORD, hear me,
For I am poor and needy.” Psalm 86:1

1. Not taking God for granted that He would hear

2. Humbly coming before God

a. Poor in spirit

b. Dependence on God

PRAYER FOR THE PRESERVATION OF LIFE

“Preserve my life…” Psalm 86:2

1. Physical life

2. Spiritual life

WHAT TO DO WITH THE LIFE THAT GOD WOULD GIVE

1. To live a holy life

“I am holy…” Psalm 86:2a

2. To relate to God

“You are my God.” Psalm 86:2b

3. To serve the Lord with joy

“Rejoice the soul of Your servant…” Psalm 86:4

LESSONS OF PRAYER TO BE LEARNT

1. To trust in God (Psalm 86:2)

2. To persevere in prayer (Psalm 86:3)

3. To pray with much hope in God (Psalm 86:5)

a. The Lord is good

b. The Lord is ready to forgive

c. The Lord is abundant in mercy to all who call upon Him

GREAT CHALLENGES

1. To live for God who preserves our life

2. To be a prayerful servant of God

3. To serve the Lord with joy!
