CHOOSING TO PRAY IN TIMES OF TROUBLE

1. Praying much (Psalm 86:6 – 7)

a. Prayer

b. Supplications

c. Calling upon God

2. Praying with faith

a. Faith sustains prayer effort

b. Faith stirs up hope in God

“You will answer me.” Psalm 86:7

HAVING A CLEAR AND FIRM FAITH IN GOD

1. Declaring that there is none like God (Psalm 86:8)

a. Among the gods there is none like the God of Israel

b. Among all the great works there is none like the works of God!

2. Desire for God to be greatly worshiped (Psalm 86:9 – 10)

a. Global worship envisioned

i. All the nations coming to worship God

ii. They shall glorify His name

iii. This would be prophetic!

b. Worshiping God with deep appreciation of who He is

i. He is the Creator

ii. He is the great God

iii. He has done wondrous things

iv. He alone is God

A COMMITMENT TO WALK WITH GOD

1. David was genuinely committed to walk with God

2. David was not perfect but he was honest with God

a. He seeks God for forgiveness of sins (Psalm 68:5)

b. He seeks God to teach him so that he would do better (Psalm 68:11)

c. He pleads with God to unite his heart to fear His name (Psalm 68:11)

i. He knows that his heart can be distracted

ii. He admits that his heart is not wholly fearing God as it should!
