Text: 2 Corinthians 8:16 – 24

GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANTS OF GOD

1. Paul gave thanks to God for good and faithful servants of the Lord!

2. He had a team of people entrusted to administer the gifts to the Churches

CULTIVATING A SERVANT’S HEART

1. Paul thanked God for Titus

2. God put into his heart the same earnest care for people like Paul

3. Titus’ part

a. He accepted Paul’s exhortation to minister at Corinth and more

b. He earnestly cared

c. He showed great diligence in his response to being called upon to minister

A TEAM APPROACH TO MINISTRY

1. Paul sent Titus with an unnamed “brother”

2. He was well known to the Churches

a. He was commended for his faithfulness to the gospel

b. He was chosen by the Churches to travel with Paul

VITAL PRINCIPLES IN SERVING THE LORD

1. Paul and his team were entrusted with gifts from the Churches

2. They were to carry this gift and administer it to the churches in need

3. There were certain principles in how Paul served the Lord with his team

a. It must bring glory to the Lord Himself (2 Corinthians 8:19)

b. It must be done blamelessly (2 Corinthians 8:20)

i. To avoid criticism

ii. To uphold the good name of the Lord

c. It must be done honorably (2 Corinthians 8:21)

i. Providing honorable things

ii. It must be honorable in the sight of God

iii. It must also be honorable in the sight of men

d. Proven (2 Corinthians 8:22)

i. Another outstanding feature of this unnamed brother sent by Paul

ii. He was proven diligent in many things

iii. His diligence remains strong and consistent “Now much more diligent”

4. A good solid reputation (2 Corinthians 8:23)
If people were to question

a. Titus

i. My partner

ii. Fellow worker

b. Our brethren

i. They are messengers (apostles) of the Churches

ii. They reflect the glory of Christ

HONORING GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANTS OF GOD
(2 Corinthians 8:24)

1. Paul encouraged the Church to honor good and faithful servants of God

2. To have a high regard for them

3. To love and care for them

4. This would speak well of the Church

PERSONAL APPLICATION

1. We need good and faithful servants of God to step up in Bethel!

a. That God’s work will be done well to bring glory to His name

b. That God’s work will not be hindered in any way

a. To pray

b. To step up to the challenge!
