TRANSCRIPT:
We've all seen them... those people who walk around with an insolent air. They clearly think that they're better than the other mere mortals who occupy the world around them. Even worse, they carry that same scornful attitude even towards the person of God.
Sadly, some of them claim to be people of God. They stand apart, much like the Pharisee in Luke 18, saying, "God, I thank You that I am not like other men." But it is not God they are glorifying... He is simply being referenced while the person indulges in self-gratification. This is a parable that Y'shua Himself told, explaining that the man who had elevated himself in his own eyes, claiming that he deserved the praises of God (rather than giving praises to God) was not justified through his prayers of false piety.... "everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." (Luke 18:14).
These people miss the mark... which is the very definition of sin... missing the mark, falling short, not measuring up. They are always busy plotting. planning how to cause others pain while falsely glorifying themselves. But the trouble that such a man prepares will always, in the end, turn out to be a snare for himself.
It is so much better to recognize our own shortcomings and seek out God's grace to help us deal with those shortcomings. He will always be faithful to help us when we are humble enough to realize that all good things come from Him, not from us.
How can I pray for you today?
