John 12:20-36 Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies.....

What did they request Philip?
-Sir, we wish to see Jesus

-No evidence about it
What did Jesus answer instead? 12:23-26
a. The hour has come.
-Jesus death on the cross
-Now Jesus knows His death
b. How would Jesus be glorified? Why is it the answer to the Greeks? 12:23
-by death on the cross, it revealed God’s love for sinners
-by resurrection of Jesus, Jesus defeated the power of death
-Not appearance of Jesus, but Jesus death and resurrection

-Jesus presented the principle of life

6. How does this principle of life work in us, the servants of Jesus? 12:26
a. whoever serves me must follow me.
-follow Jesus way: hate this world, but hope for eternal life
b. where I am, my servant also will be.
-where Jesus falls and dies: Jesus died and buried

-receiving honor from God, not from people

-v.27 now is my soul troubled. And what shell I say? Father, save me from this hour ?
But for this purpose I have come to this hour.

-Father, glorify your name.

8. How did God reveal His own heart to Jesus’ prayer? 12:28b
-a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”
Three times: Jesus baptism, transfiguration on the mountain and this time
What did the crowd hear when God spoke to Jesus?
-thunder or an angel has spoken to him
-people who don’t have any pain and sufferings can’t hear God’s voice
Who receives benefit from the voice of God?
-for Jesus, actually by Jesus, we become Jesus fruit
-we are saved by Jesus

-v.35-36
How can one walk in the light?
-v.36 believe in Jesus
-Losing Jesus, darkness will overtake our lives
Why did Jesus finish with this teaching?
-people are still in darkness.
