David’s opening line in his prayer is an ultimate example of praise we can use, if God rejects our plans.
There are times that God rejects our goals in life, because he has far greater plans in store for us. This can be overwhelmingly disappointing, especially if we desperately want it (job promotion, relationships, university application...).
No matter what prayer God leaves unanswered, His riches have been poured out on us in Jesus, and any disappointment would be insignificant in comparison to what He has already bestowed upon us. Therefore, we should always begin our prayers with gratitude!
