Question: Why does God command The Israelites or us, for that matter, to obey Him?

Answer: God has feelings. The more I study His patterns and character, The more I seem to gather that disobedience equals not trusting in Him. I think He wants us to obey Him to prove our love to Him that we trust Him. When we disobey, it is because we trust ourselves, His created, more than God, Our Creator.  That hurts Him to the core, because God is love. LOVE must be tested and our obedience is part and parcel of that test. An action will always follow a promise when we mean it.
