When it comes to some of the most important theological and doctrinal matters in all of Scripture, Colossians has as much as any book can hope to contain. What we have in this book and in the studies to date cover matters so vital, so essential to Christianity, that a person could understand all that is necessary to know who God is, and why He sent His Son to earth. We can know about His essential nature, His personal work of redemption and His great desire to reconcile man to Himself.

Jesus is presented by Paul to a church who must have had false believers troubling them in the areas discussed in the letter. The church is warned about deceitful people who would deceive the church through vanity and empty philosophy. Their problem is similar to ours in this time, and it only goes to prove that the writer's messages are timeless and that the problems faced in the early church are the same which are still faced today.
