Over the past two weeks I (Pastor Sean) have been going back in to work in my office at the church. And--even better!--we'll be starting regular in-person worship services next week for the first time in 18 months. It almost feels like it did when I would be heading back to school every September -- getting back at it, a fresh start.
Of course, students will indeed be heading back to school soon, but what about you? Have things been starting up for you as well? Even though I'm sure there's much joy about things beginning to get back to some semblance of normalcy, which is great, I'm sure there are some challenges as well. I dig into these ideas in a letter I sent in the weekly email this week, so please do take a moment to read that when you have a moment.
Since I'm sure there will be a few things we're returning to this month, I thought we'd take some time to explore Isaiah chapter 40 in a bit of detail. While our own struggles might not be the match of what had happened in those days (invasion, defeat, destruction, exile), I think we might still find some comfort as we see how God was at work in those difficult times.
Please note: Online services will be continuing as we return to in-person worship this month and going forward. But if you're in the GTA and would like to come in-person, you can register by emailing us at office@standrewsislington.org.
Some talking points for this week's video:
• Are you excited about or struggling with returning to work/school/church? Why?
• Where do you want/need to see God's "glory" today?
• Where is God calling you to "go" for Him?
