David Brooks recently wrote a New York Times article entitled, "Pandemics Kill Compassion, Too: You might not like what you become." In it, he talks about how pandemics expose human nature. He argues that throughout history, people have exhibited heartless cruelty and self-preservation during epidemics.

By contrast, Jesus calls his followers to rise above this self-protectiveness and cruelty found in past pandemics. In a day when most people in America associate Christianity with hypocrisy, corruption, and hatred, maybe believers' selfless response to this epidemic will change people’s perception of the church and ultimately Christ.

Join our live stream Thursday at 8:15, as Senior Pastor Conrad Hilario talks about how the Christian worldview provides a unique basis for compassion.
