"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!" But what is the day that is in question? Usually, we hear the verse as a call to enjoy *this* day, that is, today. In truth, it is actually a call to enjoy a very specific day, the day that the stone rejected by people is made into the chief cornerstone by God. In the Gospels (
Mark 12:10-12), Jesus calls back to this verse as being fulfilled in his own life. The one who was to be rejected by the religious leaders would be selected by God to be the very foundation!
