The goal of the 30-Day Growth Challenge is that we fall in love with Jesus and believe in His Word in a greater way than we ever have by developing a daily discipline of studying God’s Word.

John 2:1-12 (NLT)
1 The next day there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration. 3 The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no more wine.” 4 “Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.” 5 But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” 6 Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons. 7 Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” When the jars had been filled, 8 he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed his instructions. 9 When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. 10 “A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!” 11 This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory. And his disciples believed in him. 12 After the wedding he went to Capernaum for a few days with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples.

1. What was the problem that occurred at the wedding? (vs. 1-3)

Insight:
The problem at this wedding was that they ran out of wine. The preparations for this wedding were not sufficient. These wedding celebrations would often last for days and it was considered an embarrassment to run out of wine or provision during the festivities. This reminds us that our gifts, personal resources and best efforts often fall short of the desired result. This is especially true when it comes to our salvation. Every one of us falls short of the standards of God. Without Christ, our lives will end in great disappointment and embarrassment. It is only through faith in Jesus and His grace are we made sufficient.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)
Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

2. What did Jesus' mother do with the problem? (VS. 3-4)

Insight:
Jesus' mother brought the problem to Jesus. This is exactly what we should do with all our shortcomings, deficiencies and sins. Bring them to Jesus so that He can help us.

3. What did His mother instruct the servants to do? (VS. 5)

Insight:
She told all the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.” One of the greatest lessons we can ever learn to fix our problems is just do whatever The Word tells us to do. Obedience to the Word always leads us to God’s provision, blessings and supernatural breakthroughs.

4. What was the result of the servants following Jesus' instructions? (vs. 7-10)

Insight:
After the servants followed the instructions, the miracle of the water turning into wine occurred. God still uses obedient servants to supernaturally meet people's greatest needs.

5. What was the end result of this miracle? (vs. 11)

Insight:
Jesus always does miracles for the purpose of people believing in Him. After Jesus did this miracle, His disciples believed in Him. The purpose of miracles is not for others to see how powerful we are but to see how powerful Jesus is. We must remember that we are just servants. Our part is to follow instructions but Jesus is the one who does the saving, deliverance, healing and miracles.
