Thoughts for Worship: "It is in accordance with this grace also that we have been called with a holy calling and saved; in accordance with this grace, existent eternally, and only manifested in time, when Jesus burst on the astonished view of men and abolished and brought to light life and immortality. This salvation, thus manifested, therefore, is an eternal salvation. There was no time when it was not. Can there be any time when it shall cease to be?" -B. B. Warfield

The Hymn 164 "O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing"(v. 1-6) AMZON
1. O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer's praise, the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of his grace. 2. My gracious Master and my God, assist to me to proclaim, to spread through all the earth abroad the honors of thy name. 3. Jesus, the name that charms our fears, that bids our sorrows cease; 'tis music in the sinner's ears, 'tis life and health and peace. 4. He breaks the pow'r of reigning sin, he sets the pris'ner free; his blood can make the foulest clean, his blood availed for me. 5. He speaks and, list'ning to his voice, new life the dead receive; the mournful, broken hearts rejoice; the humble poor believe. 6. Hear him, ye deaf; his praise ye dumb, your loosen'd tongues employ; ye blind, behold your Savior come; and leap, ye lame, for joy.
The Invocation & The Lord's Prayer
Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever, Amen.
Affirmation of Faith: Heidelberg Catechism Q/A 1 & 2
Q1: What is your only comfort in life and death? A: "That with body and soul, both in life and death, I am not my own, but belong to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ, who, with His precious blood, has fully satisfied for all my sins, and delivered me from all the power of the devil; and so preserves me that without the will of my heavenly Father, not a hair can fall from my head; yes, that all things must be subservient to my salvation, and therefore, by His Holy Spirit, He also assures me of eternal life, and make me sincerely willing and ready, henceforth to live to Him."
Q2: How many things are necessary for you to know, that you, enjoying this comfort, may live and die happily? A: "Three: the first, how great my sins and miseries are, the second, how I may be delivered from all my sins and miseries; the third, how I shall express my gratitude to God for such deliverance."
The Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen.
The Pastoral Prayer
The Public Reading of Scripture: Revelation 10:1-11
The Psalter Psalm 103 (v. 1-13) BEECHER
1 Bless the Lord, my soul; my whole heart 2 Ever bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, my soul; forget not All His mercies to proclaim. 3 Who forgives all thy transgressions, Thy diseases all Who heals; 4 Who redeems thee from destruction, Who with thee so kindly deals. Who with love and mercy crowns thee, 5 Satisfies thy mouth with good, So that even like the eagle Thou art blessed with youth renewed. 6 In His righteousness Jehovah Will deliver those distressed; He will execute just judgment In the cause of all oppressed. 7 He made known His ways to Moses, And His acts to Isr'el's race; 8 Tender, loving is Jehovah Slow to anger, rich in grace. 9 He will not forever chide us Nor will keep His anger still, 10 Has not dealt as we offended Nor requited us our ill. 11 For as high as is the heaven, Far above the earth below, Ever great to them that fear Him Is the mercy He will show. 12 Far as east from west is distant He has put away our sin; 13 Like the pity of a father Has Jehovah's pity been.
The Sermon "Death & the Christian" Philippians 1:19-26
The Hymn 457 "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing" (v. 1-3) NETTLETON
1. Come, thou fount of ev'ry blessing, tune my heart to sing thy grace; streams of mercy, never ceasing, calls for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above; praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it, mount of God's unchanging love. 2. Here I raise my Ebenezer; hither by thy help I'm come; and I hope, by thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, wand'ring from the fold of God: he, to rescue me from danger, interposed his precious blood. 3. O to grace how great a debtor daily I'm constrained to be; let that grace now, like a fetter, bind my wand'ring heart to thee. Prone to wander Lord, I feel it prone to leave...
