The Text Readings (formerly known as “Day Texts”) are usually anywhere from 15-60 minutes. This show involves the translation and meaning of Exodus 4:13-26. Here Moses’ continued lack of faith angers Jah, who then makes preparation for Moses’ inadequacies, as well as declare Israel his “Firstborn” followed by the saving of a child’s life…by his mother…the same mother who almost caused the child’s death. The translations are from the Hebrew (H) and Greek (G) texts.

(H) 4:13 But Moses began to say, “I beg you now, send forth another by your hand.”
(G) 4:13 But Moses said, “I am begging you, Lord. Choose another able person whom you shall send.”

(H) 4:14 Then anger with Moses showed in the person of Jaho(h)-ah, and he said: “Is not your brother Aaron the Levite? I have learned he is able to speak. It is he who will speak and, indeed, behold! He is coming out to meet with you. Once he has seen you he will rejoice in his heart.
(G) 4:14 That made Lord [Jah(h)-ah] feel anger against Moses. So he said, “Is not Aaron the Levite your brother? I know he is able to speak. He will speak for you. Indeed, behold! He will come out for a meeting with you and, seeing you, he will feel joy within himself.

(H) 4:15 Once you have spoken to him and you have set the right words in his mouth, then I will come to be with your mouth and with his mouth. Now I have shown you what you must do.
(G) 4:15 You will speak with him and you will put my words in his mouth and I will open your mouth and his mouth, and I will educate you about things which you will do.

(H) 4:16 Aaron is the one who speaks for you to the people. It has been determined that he will be as a mouth for you and you will become as God for him.
(G) 4:16 Aaron will speak for you to the people and he will be your mouth, but you will be with him when it comes to things involving God.

(H) 4:17 This staff you will take in your hand, because with it you will do signs.”
(G) 4:17 This staff which was turned into a snake, you will take it in your hand. With the staff in your hands you will work the signs.”

(H) 4:18 Then Moses left and returned to Jethro his father-in-law and he said, “I should go now and I should return to my brothers who are in Egypt. I should find out if they are still alive.” Jethro said to him, “Go in peace!”
(G) 4:18 Then Moses left and returned to Jothor his father by marriage and he said, “I will go and I will return to my brothers who are in Egypt, and I will see if they are still living.” Jothor said to Moses, “Leave in good health!”

(H) 4:19 Now Jaho(h)-ah began to say to Moses in Midian, “Go! Return to Egypt, because all of the men seeking your life [or, ‘your soul’] have died.”
(G) 4:19 After these many days the king of Egypt died. So Lord [Jaho(h)-ah] said to Moses in Madiam, “Leave! You must depart into Egypt, for all those seeking your life [or, ‘your soul’] have died.”

(H) 4:20 So Moses began to take his wife and his sons and they rode donkeys as they started to return to the land of Egypt. But Moses took the staff of God in his hand.
(G) 4:20 Then Moses took his wife and his children and he mounted them upon donkeys and he returned to Egypt. But Moses took the staff from God in his hand.
