These verses are beautiful! We put them to music to help Stephen prepare for an entrance exam at Covenant and have been singing them ever since.

It has been our most frequented bedtime song for the entirety of our kids’ lives. ???? We used to sing it every nap for a predictable nap time rhythm, but now we mainly sing it as we’re going to bed.

Having these verses memorized over the past 6 years, we’ve realized just how commonly quoted they are in theological circles. We’ve heard and seen them used in sermons, discussions, articles, books, etc,.

It is always exciting for our kids (and us!) to hear someone reading one of these verses because they know them so well. And it’s also helpful with memory retention to hear other people reading them from time to time too!

If you’ve set a goal to memorize some Scripture this year, we highly recommend storing up Exodus 34:6-7 and Deuteronomy 6:4-5!

“The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.’”
-Exodus 34:6-7 (ESV)

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”
-Deuteronomy 6:4-5 (ESV)
