Forgotten God: Gifts and Fruit
1 Corinthians 12:1-13:2, Ephesians 4:12-13
The Holy Spirit is God’s Empowering Presence in our lives.

A Spiritual Gift is a special God-empowered ability that is given to a follower of Jesus to be used for the good of others.

These gifts come from the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit determines who gets which gift.
The gifts produce results because of God’s power.
The gifts are given to benefit others, not ourselves.

Everybody is somebody in the Body.

The fruit of the Spirit trumps the gifts of the Spirit.

Daily Reading – Forgotten God Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit 5/28/2018-6/2/2018
Monday: Read 1 Corinthians 12:1-11. Who is the source of all spiritual gifts? Why are we given a spiritual gift? How are you doing at using your gift(s) for that pur- pose? Why do you think the author makes such a big deal out of these gifts if they all come from the same place?
Tuesday: Read 1 Corinthians 12:12-31. Who puts each part of the body just where He wants it? What do we learn about God when we view His Body (The Church) this way? What important things do we learn about ourselves? What happens if one part of the Body suffers? Who doesn’t have a role to play in the Body of Christ?
Wednesday: Read Galatians 5:16-26. Which two forces are constantly fighting in our lives? Write out what the Spirit produces in our life (fruit vs. 22-23) and look over them. This is the “fruit” of the Spirit… or the evidence of the Spirit in our life. What do those who belong to Jesus do in vs. 24? Which part of our lives should we follow the spirits leading in?
Thursday: Read Romans 12:1-13. What sticks out to you in this passage? Who does this passage say we belong to? Why do you think this matters? What are we not to “pretend” to do? How does using your gift(s) show love to others?
Friday: Read Ephesians 4:11-24. How should these gifts be used according to vs.
12? How long will this continue (vs. 13)? What is the impact that this sort of growth and maturity will have on the people? What is the effect when the whole body does its part?
