Christians rarely think about how much animal blood was spilled and offered under the Law of Moses, none of which remitted sins. That's because we know that the blood of Christ, that once for all sacrifice, has the power to remit all sins for those who obey God in faith. But not realizing just how much blood was shed under the Law of Moses can cause us to undervalue just how powerful Jesus' sacrifice was. Therefore, if we were to start at Mount Sinai, and proceed to the death of Christ (and assume that sacrifices didn't end under the period of captivity: a period of 1479 years), about how many animals was Israel to offer during their regular daily, weekly, monthly and yearly sacrifices (which would be on top of personal sacrifices)? In Lesson 109 of our study of Numbers we learn the answer to this question.
** There was an arithmetic error concerning the running total of rams and goats offered as 1479 of each needs to be added to the final total. Needless to say, that a lot of animals were to be offered under the Law of Moses. Sorry for the mistake. **
