Joseph uses some shrewd tactics to determine weather his brothers are the same ones who threw him in the pit and sold him or if they are something more. He must not let know who he really is lest the true heart of them not be revealed. He places them in a similar situation where they can leave and never return but at the expense and sacrifice of Simeon who has stayed behind as ransom. They must return with their brother Benjamin and confess to having the grain and gold payment that was placed in their sacks on the order of Joseph. Joseph has been on both sides of this and is dealing with the brother with both firmness and grace giving them a chance to redeem themselves. The price is to return with their brother Benjamin and confess to having both the grain and gold. Please listen to this sermon to see the HUGE significance of this.
