A regular show hosted by #GregStafford with new videos uploaded or premiering most weekdays and Saturdays, followed by a separate Sunday show. Our Day Text videos are about 20-60 minutes long. We discuss biblical and other ancient documents which are grouped together for the discussion, as we progressively work our way through biblical and related texts.

This show is about Genesis 7:17-24 from translations of both the Hebrew (H) and Greek (G) texts:

(H) 7:17 Now the flood continued for forty days against the earth, and the waters were great. So they began to lift the box vessel and it began to rise high up away from upon the earth.
(G) 7:17 The cataclysm came into being forty days and forty nights upon the earth. The water was made to increase and it lifted up the wooden box craft, and it was made to rise high up from the earth.

(H) 7:18 The waters started gaining in strength and they were shooting forth in abundance above the earth, but the box vessel was moving atop of the surfaces of the waters.
(G) 7:18 The water was dominating and it was made to increase immensely upon the earth, and the wooden box craft was brought along over the water.

(H) 7:19 When the waters had become strong, increasing with force against the earth, then they began to cover all the high mountains which were below all of the sky heavens.
(G) 7:19 But the water was extremely dominating, acting powerfully upon the earth, and it covered all the high mountains which were below the sky heaven.

(H) 7:20 The waters had become strong and they began to cover the mountains, fifteen cubits [or, “between 22.5 and 26.25 feet”] higher.
(G) 7:20 The water was made to rise up and to cover all the high mountains, fifteen cubits [or, “between 22.5 and 26.25 feet”] above them.

(H) 7:21 Then all flesh began to die which moves upon the ground among the flyer and among the land animal and among the wild animal, even among all that moves upon the ground, and among all of humankind.
(G) 7:21 And all flesh which moves upon the earth died, all of the birds and all of the pack animals and all of the wild animals, even every reptile moving upon the earth, and all humankind.

(H) 7:22 Everything which has breath of spirit, things which live by nostrils, from all that is within the dry ground area, they had been killed.
(G) 7:22 All things, everything which has breath of life and everything which existed upon the dry ground died.

(H) 7:23 So they were erased, all of the existence which was on the surface areas of the land from among humankind, including land animal, crawling creature, and including flyers of the sky heavens. They were erased from the land and yet Noah remained. So did those who were with him in the box vessel.
(G) 7:23 He erased every living construction [or, “organic erection”] which was upon the face of all the earth, from mankind to pack animal, even reptiles and birds of the sky heaven. They were erased from the earth and Noe was left alone, and the ones with him in the wooden box craft.

(H) 7:24 The waters continued to be strong against the earth one hundred and fifty days.
(G) 7:24 And the water was raised high up over the earth one hundred and fifty days.
